Fight the Amoral Fight

As was noted in the previous blog, this one is closed to comments - because there are things to go and places to see and people to do. Or something like that.
All is well :)

Answers to comments from Bogon, Ylee, calpoppy, and LowerCal are in the previous blog. Thanks, you all!

Summer time summer time summer time … so much to do! Thought I'd leave a few of the local happenings here for those who live nearby -

Greek Festival in Camarillo
The 35th Annual Ventura County Greek Festival
June 21-23, 2013
[I must admit that, despite what I said in Ylee's blog about eating sheep, when someone reminded me of this festival my first thought was, “Mmmmm, lamb kebabs!” Hey, nobody's perfect, LOL]

Pirate Days at the Ventura Harbor:
Saturday & Sunday July 13-14, 1pm - 4pm
Ventura Harbor Village
[This is a hoot – a small hoot, but, a hoot]

Santa Paula Citrus Festival
46th Annual Citrus Festival
July 19, 20 & 21, 2013
[nice talent lineup and plenty of lemonade to be had!]

Citrus Classic Balloon Festival
July 26-28
[oooh, pretty]

Ventura County Fair
July 31 -August 11
[Goats! Rabbits! Rodeo! Horse jumping! Rides! Cotton candy! Puking kids! (those last three go together!)]
[Styx! Three Doors Down! Kool and the Gang! Other People People Like!]

Los Angeles County Fair
August 30 – September 29
[Too much to mention! Also, unlike the Ventura County Fair, where concerts are free with paid admission to the fair, the concerts at the LA Grandstand cost extra. fyi]

Maybe I'll pop in and add if I find others I'd like to note.
[wumail me if a link doesn't work, please]

…..

So calpoppy is looking for monsooooons and WTS thinks it could be a nice summer. I bet Karen wants the fog to lift early and LowerCal would happily take it in his valley. I just want sunshine! We all are lucky, as we will all get some of what we want this summer.
I'd definitely take the monsooooons, though – I love a good thunderstorm and hope to have time to chase one down this year, if they don't come to me (as they usually don't!).

Here's wishing everyWUn the summer weather they want, peace and safety through the weather they get, and moments of pure joy at what the weather brings to our planet and our lives.

Advance.
The little is departing;
The great is arriving.
Good fortune.
Prosperous and smooth.

Heaven and Earth unite;
All beings come into union.
The upper and the lower link;
Their wills are the same.

The inner is the yang; the outer is the yin.
The inner is the strong; the outer is the gentle.
The inner is the superior; the outer is the inferior.

Thus,
The way of the superior is exp...

Already Fulfilled.
Being prosperous and smooth.
Only in little affairs is there prosperity and smoothness.

Favorable to be steadfast and upright.
Because the firm and the yielding are in correct places
And respond to their proper ones.

Beginning: good fortune,
For the yielding is in the central.
End: disorder.
There is no way out.

So, in the last presidential election, I wrote a lot about third party candidates. I made no secret of the fact that I would vote for Nader/Gonzales that year, and I did. Nader isn't running this time around but I still have choices.I have no illusions regarding the possibility of a third party candidate winning the Presidency. That will not happen. The idea is to change the current, dysfunctional, system that leaves so many of us without representation.So, another ...

Last night at the RNC, Marco Rubio told us that if we work up to 16 hours a day for 70 years, like his dad, then we, too, may have a child at the front of the room one day. Unlike his father, he wants us to do it without looking forward to Social Security and Medicare, without significant unemployment benefits, without any chance of affordable health insurance or any other worker protection, and we'll do it with a minimum wage that is far less than a living wage. An...
