Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday, May 17, 2008.

More clear conditions are anticipated for most of the Caribbean on Saturday as the large Atlantic Ridge continues to send high pressure into the region. Typical showers and downpours are likely across the Hispaniola and Jamaica, but most of the day should be nice in these locations. The southern Central American Coast will see some rainy season wet weather on Saturday with the Costa Rican and Panamanian coasts seeing rain and some heavy downpours.

The Gulf of Mexico will also see some wet weather as the tail end of a very weak cold front picks up some moisture. The Texas and northern Mexican coasts will see showers and thunderstorms, and some squalls will develop in the Gulf itself.

Northern South America will remain wet on Saturday as well, though precipitation will generally stay to the East of the Andes. The northern Amazon Basin will stay wet, but south of the river things will continue to dry out as the wet season wanes.

The Brazilian coast will be wet on Saturday too with showers developing from Rio de Janeiro northward. South of Rio, dry weather is anticipated through Patagonia. The extreme southern portion of Argentina ill see wet weather as low pressure sits off the coast. Chile will also see wet weather as another low in the Pacific slams ashore near Puerto Montt.
